What are we looking for

We are expanding our AI operations across the continent and are looking for 4 Data & AI Evaluations Operations Lead to drive field execution across four key regions: West, East, Central, and Southern Africa.

This is a unique opportunity to lead operations on AfriChallenge Live, a two year, ambitious, high-impact initiative designed to evaluate and build AI models that truly understand African languages, cultural nuances, and real-world user interactions. Supported by top global and regional partners, this project pushes the boundaries of multi-turn voice and text AI testing in local contexts across the continent.

As a Regional Lead, you won't just be managing tasks; you will be at the forefront of shaping how AI technology serves African communities. You will own regional project execution by building and coordinating local networks of contributors, language speakers, and domain experts, overseeing field data collection, and maintaining high data quality standards.

This is an AI Ops, Data Ops, or AI Project Management role. We are looking for resourceful, highly organized operators who understand data annotation pipelines, local language testing, and AI evaluation workflows, and who thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
 

Your missions

Regional Operations & Project Delivery:

  • Lead regional execution for AI evaluation and data collection projects across your designated geography.

  • Coordinate field operations, data collection activities, and local quality assurance workflows.

  • Ensure deliverables are completed on schedule, within scope, and to high quality standards.

Network & Contributor Management:

  • Recruit, onboard, and manage regional networks of data annotators, human evaluators, and domain specialists.

  • Maintain active communication with local teams, providing guidelines, training, and operational support.

  • Ensure fair compensation and seamless coordination across local contributor groups.

Data & AI Quality Assurance:

  • Oversee data collection flows (speech, text, multi-turn interactions) and ensure strict compliance with project criteria.

  • Understand and supervise processes around data annotation, LLM testing, and transcription quality control.

  • Identify operational bottlenecks in data pipelines and implement quick solutions.

Cross-Functional & Regional Collaboration:

  • Serve as the main operational link between field contributors and YUX’s core ML engineering and research teams.

  • Provide weekly progress updates, risk assessments, and operational reports to project leads.
     

Qualifications 

  • 3+ years of experience in AI Ops, Data Operations, Research Ops, or Project Management handling AI/data collection projects.

  • Strong practical understanding of data annotation, speech/text data collection, AI/LLM testing workflows, and local language dataset operations.

  • Exceptional organizational and coordination skills.

  • High level of resourcefulness, adaptability, and a hands-on get things done attitude.

  • Strong collaborative spirit and ability to work across multicultural teams.

  • Must be based in one of the target regions (Our existing teams are based in, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Kenya, and Rwanda. If you are based on one of these countries, you will have access to more in person sessions with the team).

  • Fluency in English (and French, depending on the region). Familiarity with major local languages in your region is a strong plus.

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Slack, data management platforms, and remote collaboration tools.
